Faster CMS item creation and undo/redo improvements
Discover the latest Webflow CMS updates: streamlined item creation with instant field access and increased user control, plus more resilient undo/redo with expanded history and translation support.

We’ve made some exciting improvements to the CMS panel that make content creation faster, more intuitive, and more reliable. These updates focus on two key areas: item creation and undo/redo behavior — and begin rolling out today, with all customers getting access by next week (week of September 8, 2025).
Streamlined CMS item creation
Creating new items should be fast and intuitive. Based on your feedback, we’ve made a few changes to remove friction and speed up workflows. Here’s what’s new:
- All fields are visible immediately. Entering the Name/Slug of your Collection Item no longer blocks other fields — start filling out content right away.
- Autosave starts after creation. You decide when an item officially exists.
- Publish directly upon creating a new item. A split button lets you create a draft or publish in one step.
These updates give you more control and efficiency when starting fresh content.
More resilient undo/redo
We also heard that undo/redo needed to be more consistent and reliable. Here’s what’s new:
- Expanded history: Undo/redo now works for up to 100 changes per session.
- Consistency across fields: All field types now behave the same.
- Translation support: Undo/redo now extends to translated content for Webflow Localization users.
We also retired the temporary “Undo all changes” button, as these improvements are focused on giving you finer, more predictable control over edits.
Updated CMS item sharing experience
Finally, we’ve unified the experience for sharing CMS items and static pages — which includes removing the Share button from the CMS panel and aligning the sharing behavior with how it works on the visual canvas. Now, when you share via the universal share action, Webflow will generate a preview link for the CMS item currently in view — as opposed to the home experience of your site.
