Google Reviews

Webflow does not include a native reviews system. E-commerce stores that collect Google Customer Reviews have no built-in way to display those ratings on their Webflow pages. Verified ratings live on Google's platforms while the website — where purchase decisions happen — stays empty.

Adding Google Customer Reviews to Webflow brings verified ratings and store badges onto the pages where visitors decide whether to buy. E-commerce stores can embed the official Google Customer Reviews store widget on their site and add the required survey opt-in module on checkout confirmation pages. This brings third-party credibility onto the site without building a review system from scratch.

How to integrate Google Reviews with Webflow

What is Google Reviews? In this guide, Google Reviews refers to Google Customer Reviews, a free Merchant Center program that collects post-purchase e-commerce feedback and displays an aggregate store rating.

Teams integrate Google Customer Reviews with Webflow when they need verified ratings visible on their own site rather than only on Google's platforms. Webflow stores use Google Customer Reviews to build seller ratings that appear on-site and across Google surfaces from a single implementation.

The Google Reviews-Webflow integration supports 2 approaches:

  • Custom code in Webflow handles direct placement of the Google Customer Reviews survey opt-in module and store widget on Webflow pages without server-side development.
  • Manual display planning inside Webflow lets teams choose where the store widget appears and how the order confirmation page is configured for the survey opt-in flow.

Most implementations combine page-level custom code for the survey opt-in module with site-level custom code for the store widget.

Add Google Reviews with custom code

Webflow supports the official Google Customer Reviews integration through custom code. Stores with a Google Merchant Center account can add the official Google Customer Reviews survey opt-in and store widget using JavaScript snippets.

The first time you add custom code to the head or body of your Webflow site, you can follow Webflow's guide on custom code in head and body tags. For inline embeds placed directly on the canvas, use a Code Embed element.

Add the Google Customer Reviews survey and store widget

This method applies to e-commerce stores enrolled in the Google Customer Reviews program through Google Merchant Center. It requires a paid Webflow site plan for custom code access. The integration has two components: a required survey opt-in module on the order confirmation page and an optional store widget that displays your aggregate rating sitewide.

To add the survey opt-in module:

  1. Open your order confirmation page in Webflow and click the gear icon next to the page name to open Page Settings.
  2. Scroll to Custom Code and paste the survey opt-in module code into the Before  tag field, replacing MERCHANT_ID, ORDER_ID, CUSTOMER_EMAIL, COUNTRY_CODE, and YYYY-MM-DD with your actual values.
  3. Click Save, then Publish — JavaScript does not run in the Webflow canvas preview.

These steps place the required opt-in module on the confirmation page where Google expects it.

To add the store widget sitewide:

  1. Open Site Settings and go to the Custom Code tab.
  2. Paste the store widget code into the Head Code field.
  3. Save and publish.

These steps make the optional widget available across your site.

The store widget supports BOTTOM_LEFT, BOTTOM_RIGHT, and INLINE position values. The widget does not display on phones or tablets — this is expected behavior. Do not deploy these snippets through Google Tag Manager. Add them directly to your site's custom code sections instead.

The store rating badge requires roughly 100 eligible reviews within a 12-month window per country. Below that threshold, the badge still appears but shows "Rating not available" instead of stars.

Use a Code Embed element for inline placement

If you want to place the store widget inline on a specific page section instead of adding code sitewide, you can use a Code Embed element in Webflow.

To place code with a Code Embed element:

  1. Drag a Code Embed element into your target section.
  2. Double-click the element and paste the widget code.
  3. Click Save & Close.
  4. Publish your site.

This setup gives you a direct way to place the Google Customer Reviews widget on a Webflow page.

The Code Embed element has a 10,000-character limit. If your code exceeds this, use page-level or site-level custom code instead.

Store implementation notes for Webflow

Google Customer Reviews works through Merchant Center and Webflow custom code, not through a public reviews API. That means the main implementation work in Webflow is placing the required snippets in the correct locations and publishing the site so the scripts can run.

For most stores, the setup looks like this:

  • Add the survey opt-in module to the order confirmation page only.
  • Add the store widget in site settings if you want it available across the site.
  • Publish after every code change because JavaScript does not run in the Designer preview.
  • Keep the snippets in Webflow custom code rather than deploying them through Google Tag Manager.

This method keeps the integration simple and aligned with the official Google Customer Reviews setup.

What can you build with the Google Reviews Webflow integration?

Integrating Google Customer Reviews with Webflow lets you display verified customer ratings directly on your pages without building a review collection system from scratch.

  • E-commerce checkout trust signals: Add the Google Customer Reviews store widget and survey opt-in to your Webflow e-commerce order confirmation page. The store widget displays your aggregate seller rating, and survey responses feed into ratings that appear across Google Shopping ads, Search ads, and free product listings from a single implementation.
  • Storewide rating visibility: Add the optional store widget through Webflow custom code so visitors can see your aggregate seller rating while browsing product and landing pages.
  • Post-purchase review collection loop: Use the required survey opt-in module on the confirmation page to support review collection after delivery through Google's survey flow.
  • Merchant Center-based trust display: Use a single Merchant Center setup to connect on-site trust signals with the same rating system used across Google's shopping surfaces.

If you need Google Business Profile reviews, third-party widgets, or review sync workflows, those belong to a separate integration path.

Frequently asked questions

  • Yes, for most methods. Adding JavaScript snippets to site-level or page-level custom code sections requires a paid Webflow site plan. The Code Embed element is available on free plans, but publishing to a live custom domain requires a paid plan. See the full plan feature breakdown on the Webflow pricing page.

  • The Google Customer Reviews store widget does not display on phones or tablets. This is expected behavior from Google, not a Webflow limitation.

  • No public API is covered in this integration path. Google Customer Reviews is implemented in Webflow through the official JavaScript snippets for the survey opt-in module and the store widget.

  • No. The Google Customer Reviews program requires the post-purchase survey opt-in to appear for all customers — selective display is not permitted.

  • They are separate systems. Google Customer Reviews is a Merchant Center program for e-commerce stores — it collects post-purchase surveys and generates seller ratings for Shopping ads and Search ads.
