Trustpilot

Trustpilot hosts verified customer reviews and a TrustScore for your business, then exposes that data through embeddable TrustBox widgets and a set of REST APIs. Connecting it to your site puts star ratings, review text, and aggregate trust scores on the pages where buyers decide.

Render TrustBox widgets on product pages, checkout, and other high-intent flows, and trigger review invitations automatically after a form submission or order. Agencies managing client sites get the same setup, and designers keep full control over placement and layout.

How to integrate Trustpilot with Webflow

What is Trustpilot? Trustpilot is an open, independent online review platform that connects consumers and businesses through customer feedback. It hosts more than 300 million reviews across 1.27 million reviewed websites. The relevant features here are TrustBox widgets that display ratings and reviews, review invitation tools, and public REST APIs for fetching review data.

Reach for this combination when you want verified reviews on pages that drive decisions, especially product pages and checkout flows. The same connection also handles the reverse direction, sending review invitations to customers after they submit a form or place an order.

There is no official Trustpilot app in the Webflow Marketplace. The Trustpilot-Webflow integration supports three approaches:

  • TrustBox widget embeds display reviews and ratings using a bootstrap script plus a Code Embed element, with no backend required.
  • Zapier automation sends Trustpilot review invitations from Webflow form submissions and orders without writing code.
  • The Trustpilot APIs and Webflow Data API give you full control over syncing reviews into the Webflow CMS and sending invitations programmatically, but require server-side development.

Most implementations combine two or more of these methods depending on the complexity of the setup.

Embed TrustBox widgets with Code Embed and custom code

This is the canonical, supported path for showing Trustpilot reviews on your site. It uses two pieces of code from Trustpilot Business: a bootstrap script that loads once site-wide, and a widget HTML block placed wherever you want the TrustBox to appear. You don't need a backend, so marketers and designers can ship it directly. You'll need a paid Site plan or a paid Workspace plan, since custom code doesn't publish on free plans.

To get the code from Trustpilot, go to Share & promote > Website widgets in Trustpilot Business and configure the TrustBox you want. Then place each block in a specific location on your site.

Add the bootstrap script to the head

The bootstrap script loads the Trustpilot widget engine. Add it once, even when you place multiple widgets on the site. Put it in the head so it doesn't slow down page rendering. Placing it in the body before the HTML works as a fallback but may hurt performance.

To add the script:

  1. In Trustpilot, click Copy code on the widget's script block.
  2. Go to Site settings > Custom code and paste it into the head code section. See Custom code in head and body tags.
  3. Click Save changes and publish.

Add the script only once per site, then reuse it for every TrustBox you embed.

Place the widget HTML in a Code Embed element

The widget HTML div is the visible TrustBox. Drop it onto the canvas wherever you want reviews to appear, like a pricing section or a product page. The Code Embed element renders this markup on the published site.

To place the widget:

  1. In Trustpilot, click Copy code on the widget's HTML block.
  2. Add a Code Embed element to the canvas at the desired location.
  3. Paste the widget HTML and publish the site.

The TrustBox doesn't render inside the Designer, so preview or publish to confirm it loads. The Code Embed element accepts HTML, CSS in <style> tags, and JS in <script> tags, with a 50,000 character limit. If the script can't find a container, it displays a floating TrustBox with no extra setup. For page transitions or custom routing that load pages without a full refresh, call the loadFromElement function after each route change so the widget re-initializes, per the single-page application guide.

Connect with Zapier

Zapier is the only automation platform with a verified, pre-built connector for both apps. Use it to send Trustpilot review invitations automatically when someone submits a form or places an order, with no code. A pre-built Zap template creates Trustpilot invitations from new form submissions, so you can start from a working flow rather than building from scratch.

Zapier exposes triggers and a Trustpilot action you can pair:

  • New form submission in Webflow → Create invitation in Trustpilot
  • New or updated order in Webflow → Create invitation in Trustpilot

This path covers the most common automation request: it turns a conversion event into a verified review invitation without backend work.

Build with Webflow and Trustpilot APIs

For full control over how reviews display and when invitations send, use the Trustpilot and Webflow REST APIs. This path suits technical teams syncing reviews into the CMS for native design control, or building custom invitation logic. You'll need server-side development, since the Code Embed element can't run server-side languages and any API logic must live on an external server or serverless function.

The available APIs cover both directions:

Route all Trustpilot calls through a backend with a caching layer to stay within rate limits.

Sync Trustpilot reviews into the Webflow CMS

This stores review data as CMS items so you can style it with native design elements instead of an iframe widget. Your backend reads reviews from Trustpilot, then writes them to a Collection. A CMS plan holds 2,000 items and the Business plan holds 10,000, which is ample for review syncing.

To implement this:

  1. Read reviews with GET https://api.trustpilot.com/v1/business-units/{businessUnitId}/all-reviews. Authenticate the request with your Trustpilot API key. The response includes stars, title, text, createdAt, isVerified, and consumer.displayName.
  2. Map those fields and write each review with POST https://api.webflow.com/v2/collections/{collection_id}/items/live. Use a Bearer token with the CMS:write scope. See Create Collection Item Live.
  3. Render the items with a Collection List and style each field directly on the canvas.

Cache review data in your backend with a 15 to 30 minute TTL minimum, since calling Trustpilot on every page view exhausts API quotas on busy sites. Trustpilot doesn't publish a public webhook events reference, so plan around polling for review updates rather than event-driven sync.

Send invitations from Webflow events via API

This sends a Trustpilot review invitation programmatically after a conversion, without Zapier. Your backend listens for a webhook, then calls Trustpilot to send the invitation. Use it when you need custom logic, like delaying the invitation or selecting a template per product.

To implement this:

  1. Register a webhook with POST https://api.webflow.com/v2/sites/{site_id}/webhooks for the form_submission trigger (forms:read scope) or ecomm_new_order trigger (ecommerce:read scope). See Webhook events.
  2. Read the payload. The form_submission payload includes the form data, and the ecomm_new_order payload includes customerInfo.email and the purchasedItems array.
  3. Send the invitation with POST https://invitations-api.trustpilot.com/v1/private/business-units/{businessUnitId}/email-invitations. Use a Business user OAuth token.

Reuse OAuth access tokens across calls rather than generating a new one per request to avoid rate limiting.

What can you build with the Trustpilot Webflow integration?

Integrating Trustpilot lets you show verified social proof on your highest-intent pages without hand-coding a review system.

  • Social proof on landing pages: Embed a TrustScore TrustBox in a hero or above a pricing table so visitors see your aggregate rating before they convert. A SaaS pricing page can carry a star rating next to each plan.
  • Product page review carousels: Drop a product review TrustBox on each Ecommerce product page to show item-specific ratings and customer feedback exactly where buyers decide.
  • CMS-native review sections: Sync reviews into a Collection and render them with a Collection List, so a testimonials page updates automatically and matches your design system without an iframe.
  • Automated post-purchase invitations: Connect an order event to Trustpilot through Zapier or the Invitations API, so every completed checkout triggers a verified review request.

If you need more control over caching, custom display, or conditional invitation logic, the API integration path covers those cases with full flexibility.

Frequently asked questions

  • Add the bootstrap script to the head, then place the widget HTML in a Code Embed element. In Trustpilot Business, go to Share & promote > Website widgets, copy the script block, and paste it into Site settings > Custom code in the head section, following Custom code in head and body tags. Then copy the widget HTML block and paste it into a Code Embed element where you want the TrustBox to display. You only add the script once, even for multiple widgets.

  • The widget does not render inside Webflow itself, which is expected, so preview or publish to see it working. Custom code only runs on published and preview URLs, per the Custom code embed documentation. Confirm you are on a paid Site plan, since custom code does not publish on free plans, and check that the bootstrap script sits in the head rather than the body. For pages that load without a full refresh, call the loadFromElement function after each route change.

  • Yes, using Zapier. Zapier offers a pre-built template that creates a Trustpilot invitation each time a Webflow form is submitted. It also supports new order and updated order triggers from Webflow, paired with the Trustpilot Create invitation action.

  • Use Trustpilot's Product Reviews widgets, which can qualify your products for rich snippet stars in search. The SEO version lets search engines crawl review content and display snippets in Google and Bing.

  • No. Calling the Trustpilot API client-side on every page load exhausts your annual API quota and can hit the recommended cap, per the rate limiting documentation. Route calls through a backend or serverless function and store results in a cache with a 15 to 30 minute TTL minimum. The Code Embed element cannot run server-side code, so any API logic must live outside Webflow on an external server.
